Mya, Hockey Player

— Mya, 14

After Mya laces up, she skates effortlessly across the ice with the rest of her team. A warm-up, then stretching. Then passing drills. Shooting drills. Then on to team plays, developing individual skills, honing their ability to work together.

Mya moves to fulfill her competitive spirit.

“I learned to skate when I was 4 and started playing hockey when I was 6. I enjoy being competitive, making new friends and building strong relationships. And of course, the game itself. My life revolves around physical activity. It’s something I do every day. Something I can’t live without.”

Mya’s whole life has been surrounded by physical activity. Her dad and sister are personal trainers and her brother plays professional hockey.

“Physical activity was automatically part of my life,” Mya says.

“It’s something that I do for fun, and it’s something that always makes me feel better. More complete.
