Nelly, Dancer and Active Kid

Moving my body is a change from just staying home and having screen time.
— Nelly, 6

“When I first learned to ride my bike,” Nelly says, “my grandma held onto the back of my seat. As I was pedaling, my grandma let go without me knowing. Then I looked back and I noticed she had let go! This made me feel so proud of myself.”

"I also like to be on my scooter," she says,

"because, similar to a bike, it takes me to different places. I can go faster than people who walk, while also keeping my balance. Physical activity always relaxes me and makes me happier."

Nelly also dances at Afro-Latino and Toronto Dance Industry. She moves for friendship, grace and fun. “What I like the most about dancing,” she says, “is that it is a fun and happy activity to the sound of music, where I can make friends and also move and stretch my body.”
